Governor says efforts are ongoing to rescue victims of recent school attack in Oriire Local Government Area

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured families of abducted students and teachers in the state that efforts are ongoing to secure their safe return.
The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday while receiving the state Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal, and other Muslim faithful at his residence in Ikolaba, Ibadan, during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Makinde said the government was working tirelessly to reunite the abducted victims with their families following the recent school attacks in Oriire Local Government Area.

Governor expresses sympathy to affected families
The governor expressed sympathy to families affected by the abduction and prayed for divine intervention for those currently facing difficult moments.

According to him, the state government remains committed to ensuring the safe rescue of the victims while security agencies continue operations in affected areas.
The abduction incident involved attacks on schools in the Ahoro Esiele community of Oriire Local Government Area, where students and teachers were reportedly taken by armed men.

Makinde calls for unity ahead of political season
Speaking during the Eid celebration, Makinde also urged Nigerians to embrace unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence as political activities ahead of future elections gradually intensify.

He stated that Oyo State has continued to maintain religious harmony and peaceful relations among residents regardless of ethnic or religious differences.
The governor stressed that political disagreements should not divide citizens, adding that leadership positions are temporary while the collective interest of the country remains important.

Muslim faithful pray for peace and victims’ release
Earlier, Muslim faithful gathered at the Agodi Eid praying ground in Ibadan to observe Eid-el-Kabir prayers and offer supplications for peace, security, and stability in Oyo State and across Nigeria.

The prayer session was led by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, AbdulGaniyy Agbotomokekere, who prayed for improved security and the safe return of abducted victims.
Worshippers also called on security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and restore calm to affected communities.
