Police Arrest Father, Son, Recover Four Firearms in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested five suspects, including a father and his son, during a series of intelligence-led operations carried out across different parts of the state.
The police also recovered four firearms, including two Dane guns, a locally made pistol, a locally fabricated pistol, one live cartridge, and a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at N180,000.
According to a statement released on Friday by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Oluseyi Babaseye, the first operation was carried out by operatives of the Afon Division following a theft report received on May 22, 2026.
The statement revealed that 23-year-old Waliu Adegbola allegedly stole a Tecno Android phone from a residential apartment on May 8, 2026. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives tracked and recovered the stolen device before arresting Waliu alongside his father, Fatai Adegbola.
Police further disclosed that a search warrant executed at the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and a Dane gun allegedly hidden inside the house.
In a separate operation, operatives attached to the Ilisan Remo Division reportedly recovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge during a routine patrol around Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27, 2026.
“The firearm was discovered abandoned and immediately secured by the patrol team,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Ode Remo Division arrested a 25-year-old suspect identified as Inioluwa Adesanya over the alleged theft of a Dane gun belonging to a resident.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly gained access to the complainant’s house under the guise of being a carpenter’s assistant during renovation work before stealing the firearm.
According to the police, the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted being a member of the Aye confraternity. He also allegedly disclosed that the weapon had been modified for concealment.
All suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes, cultism, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms across the state.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
