Afrobeats star reveals why he ended a past romance, saying emotional pressure at home became difficult to handle.

Rema Opens Up on Breakup, Says Former Relationship Became Too Manipulative

Nigerian music sensation Rema has opened up about the end of a previous romantic relationship, revealing that he walked away after struggling with what he described as manipulative behaviour and emotional pressure.

The Afrobeats star made the disclosure during a conversation with YouTuber Korty EO, where he reflected on his experiences in love and the challenges that contributed to the breakup.

According to Rema, the relationship had several beautiful moments and was not entirely negative. However, he explained that the emotional strain eventually outweighed the positives.

The singer noted that the demands of his music career and public life already placed significant pressure on him, making it important to find peace and comfort in his personal relationships.

He said that instead of finding relief at home, he was often confronted with additional tension and stress, which gradually affected the relationship.

Speaking on the experience, Rema described the relationship as beautiful but also emotionally challenging due to what he considered manipulative behaviour.

“My romantic relationship was beautiful but a little quite manipulative. So much pressure. Knowing the world puts so much pressure on me but coming back home is where you want to feel relieved, but when you come back home and you are getting more pressure, it’s a different story. For now, I’m done,” he said.

The revelation has since sparked conversations among fans on social media, with many sharing differing opinions on relationships, emotional well-being and the pressures that come with fame.

While Rema did not reveal the identity of his former partner, his comments have attracted widespread attention as fans react to his candid remarks about love and personal struggles.
