BREAKING: Protest Erupts in Ibadan Over Rising Insecurity and Kidnappings in Oyo State
Tension is currently high in Oyo State, as a large number of concerned residents have taken to the streets in Ibadan, particularly around the Mokola axis, to protest against rising insecurity and repeated kidnapping cases in the region.
The protest, which is ongoing as of this report, has attracted several citizens carrying placards with messages such as “Bring Back Our Children” and “Their Lives Matter”, calling for urgent government intervention.
According to eyewitness accounts, the demonstration is centered on the alleged slow response of authorities to recent abductions of students, teachers, and young children in parts of the state.
One of the protesters expressed deep frustration, saying:
“Nothing has been done by the federal government to secure the release of the kidnapped students, teacher and little children. The Amotekun force that were placed in Oyo state have been reduced to ordinary bouncers. The state government are also facing only politics rather than protecting the lives of the citizens.”
The statement reflects growing anger among residents who feel that both state and federal authorities have not done enough to address the security challenges.
Security operatives are reportedly monitoring the situation as the protest continues to draw attention in the city.
