Abeokuta Residents Stage Mass Protest, Demand Immediate Release of Abducted Children
Hundreds of concerned residents gathered in Abeokuta on Thursday morning to protest the growing insecurity in the country and demand the immediate release of recently abducted children.
The demonstration followed earlier announcements that circulated across the community, informing residents of the date, time, and meeting point for the peaceful protest. As agreed, participants assembled in large numbers and marched through parts of the city, voicing their concerns over the worsening security situation.
Many of the protesters carried placards bearing strong messages such as “End Bad Governance,” “Bring Back Our Children,” “End Insecurity,” “We Want Our Children Back,” “They Must Be Free,” and “They Are Not Animals.”
The atmosphere was charged with emotion as demonstrators called on relevant authorities to intensify efforts toward securing the safe return of the abducted children. Several participants expressed fears over the increasing cases of kidnapping and insecurity, stressing that citizens deserve to live without fear.
Protesters maintained that the safety of children and other vulnerable members of society should remain a top priority, urging both state and federal authorities to take decisive action against criminal activities threatening communities.
The protest remained peaceful as participants continued to demand justice, accountability, and the safe return of the kidnapped children.
