Adeboye to Security Chiefs: Defeat Terrorists Within 90 Days or Resign

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has challenged Nigeria’s security leadership to eliminate terrorism within 90 days or step down from their positions.

Speaking in a video shared on the church’s official social media platforms, Adeboye expressed deep concern over the country’s growing insecurity and urged the government to take decisive action against terrorists and criminal groups operating across the nation.

According to the respected cleric, security chiefs should be given a clear deadline to end terrorist activities, stressing that failure to achieve the objective should come with accountability.

“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would say quietly to our government, move fast. And tell our security chiefs, get rid of these terrorists within 90 days, or resign,” Adeboye stated.

The RCCG leader recalled giving similar advice to former President Muhammadu Buhari during his administration. He said Buhari accepted the recommendation and directed security agencies accordingly, but no consequences followed when the deadline expired without the desired results.

“He ran with that advice, but he didn’t follow it through. Because he gave the order as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The three months went, and the work was not done,” he said.

Adeboye also urged the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to go beyond targeting terrorists alone by ensuring that individuals financing and supporting criminal groups are also brought to justice.

“When giving orders to the service chiefs this time around, we should make it clear to them that they are not only to eliminate the terrorists, they should eliminate their sponsors, no matter how influential they may be,” he added.

His remarks come amid increasing public concern over insecurity across Nigeria, including recent kidnappings, attacks on communities, and the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in several parts of the country.
